A solitary life
“The moment something goes wrong, I start thinking about my issues and problems. Sometimes I think it would be better to live a solitary life, given my strong hate towards people.”
The story
A solitary life
She asked for my patience. Ramona had a restlessness that was challenging to understand. It seemed like she was all over the place and extremely self-destructive. With every word she said you could feel her pain, and the only thing I could do was listen. Anything more was beyond my capabilities, but at that moment, it was all she needed.
She looked for understanding, for connection, and for something or someone who could bring her peace. She expressed that her biggest problem was not knowing what was wrong with her. That uncertainty scared her the most.
She also had some fear that she wasn’t being authentic, but her feelings were real and her mood swings were a daily reality. When someone hurt her, she felt terrible and Ramona would isolate herself. What made things even worse was that she experienced more bad moments than good ones.
She asked me if she could write me a letter instead of an email. From her first letter, I could already tell that despite her immense pain, she was a person with a strong personality. However, she was also someone trying hard to find herself. She couldn’t find anything to hold onto or any certainties. All I could do was hope that there would come a day when she would find the peace and stability she so desperately longed for.
